‘Misguided Angel’ Cover Revealed!!! · March 25.

^^ Please click to view full-size in HQ! ^^

Finally!!! The ‘Misguided Angel Cover has been released!!! I love it….absoultely gorgeous!!!This might actually be my favorite cover in the series! Doesn’t this make you more excited for the book to come out! Can’t wait!

So, what do you think about the cover? Did you have any say in it?

I had a huge say in it. I really wanted it to be otherworldly, very beautiful. I like it because the girl’s face — to me she could look Asian, or Latino, or Italian. I just thought it was kind of nice that she had this universal look where you couldn’t really tell what race she was. It’s great for an angel to look like that.

This is the fifth book in the series – how many do you plan on releasing? Did you think it would last this long?

I had a very ambitious program when I first outlined this; I definitely planned a big series. From the beginning five years ago, I said I had a plan for nine or 10 books and they said, ‘Whoa! OK! We’ll buy two and see how it does!’ And then they kind of took off. I had a plan if it didn’t work out how to end it on book three, but if it did work I definitely had this big overreaching arc that I wanted to explore. I dream big! (laughs)

Misguided Angel Sneak Peek! · March 9.

This is once again from Melissa’s March Newsletter. She gave a short sneak peek of Misguided Angel– which is tentatively to be released in Fall 2010! Here is the sneak peek:

There were seven of us at the inception of the order. A conclave was called to address the growing threat posed by the Paths of the Dead. Along with myself, present at the gathering were the Emperor’s cousin Gemellus, a weakling; Octilla and Halcyon from the vestal virgins; the head of the Imperial Army, General Alexandrus; Pantaelum, a trusted senator and Onbasius, a healer.

In my prodigious research, I have determined that Halcyon was most likely the keeper of the Gate of Promise, the third known Gate of Hell. I have come to the conclusion that this gate is instrumental in uncovering the truth behind the continued existence of our supposedly vanquished enemies. This is the gate we must focus on, the most important one in the lot.

Keys to the Repository: Sneak Peek of Sky’s Story! · March 9.

In Melissa’s March newsletter, she gave us a short sneak peek of Schuyler’s story from Keys to the Repository– which is out in bookstores June 29, 2010!

From Schuyler’s story:

Three stolen kisses—what did it matter, really? Jack was never going to be her boyfriend, she thought, as she turned right onto 96th street. He was never going to sling his arm around her as they walked down the hall, never take her to Winter Ball, never declare his love over the PA system by mangling the lyrics to “Come on Eileen” as Jamie Kip did so charmingly last week when he serenaded Ally Elly before the Head Girl had cut him off. But Schuyler didn’t want any of that—did she? She had never yearned for popularity. It struck her as absurd anyway, to want popularity. Popularity was fickle and elusive, like trying to catch fireflies in a jar. You were either born with it or relegated to wallflower status according to the mysterious and unknowable workings of the universe.

You can pre-order on Amazon, B&N, or from your local indie bookstore.

New Interview With Melissa de la Cruz · March 7.

Melissa did a new interview with Fangtastic Books!  The interview is amazing! We learn more about Misguided Angel, Wolf Pact, AND Keys to the Repository! Be sure to check it out!

Q: Could you tell us about your current work in progress?

A: Misguided Angel is the fifth book in the Blue Bloods series. It follows Jack and Schuyler’s journey in Europe to continue the Van Alen Legacy. Meanwhile, back in New York, Oliver and Mimi discover a new threat. A new character, Ming Chen arrives in NYC to help them with it. Part of the book also tells Allegra’s background story in fifteenth-century Florence.

I’m also working on Wolf Pact, the first book in the Blue Bloods spin off starring Bliss Llewellyn and a new cast of characters. And Witches on East End, which is my new adult series, about a family of witches in the Hamptons.

‘Blue Bloods’ Journey to the Best-Seller’s List · February 28.

Melissa recently went to visit the to Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra. In this article, Mel explains her journey to the New York Times Best-Seller’s list…and how Twilight helped lift up Blue Bloods and the whole vampire genre.

The journey from struggling writer to a spot on the New York Times’ best-seller list wasn’t an easy trek for author Melissa De La Cruz.

Shortly after submitting to her publisher her young adult novel, “Blue Bloods,” a series about vampires, De La Cruz was surprised to find another author had beaten her to it.

“I turned in my book and I went to the book store. And there was another vampire book out, and it was called `Twilight,”‘ she said.

No matter, De La Cruz told a group of more than 400 girls Wednesday during a visit to Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra, the popular “Twilight” series has actually helped her own book sales.

“It lifted the whole genre,” she said.

Each year, the school hosts a different author to speak at the all-girls campus. But it took Esther Leung, 17, a senior at Ramona and a big fan of the “Blue Blood” series, nearly two years to nail down a date when the De La Cruz could visit the school.

“It’s not just about vampires,” Leung said. “The books also have history and lots of drama.”

De La Cruz said she normally doesn’t visit schools “unless it’s part of my book tour.”

“But this place is so close to my heart, because I went to a convent school,” she added.

She attended Convent of the Sacred Heart School in San Francisco. The first installation in her “Blue Bloods” series is set against a private school backdrop.

“In `Blue Bloods,’ it’s a lot about my school experience. I was always fascinated by small private schools and their rituals,” she said.

Short Misguided Angel Synopsis! · February 26.

According to Melissa de la Cruz, Hyperion released a very vague synopsis of Misguided Angel on Amazon!

After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler fled to Florence–with her forbidden love, Jack. Now the two of them must embark on the mission Schuyler was destined to complete: to find and protect the seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer, lord of the Silverbloods.

As the Blue Blood enclave weakens yet further, fate leads Schuyler closer to a terrifying crossroads–and a choice that will determine the destiny of all vampires.

Mel says it’s still very vague because she’s still writing the book! But doesn’t that little bit already get you super excited???

Thanks Mel!
